Ezra’s Story of Resilience and Gratitude

In April 2020, we first introduced you to the Kirschner family during a time of uncertainty and fear. Haley Jane and Brenton Kirschner had just welcomed their first and only child, Ezra, into the world, who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida.

Haley Jane shared about their experience at Goodness Village, saying, “The apartment was very clean and well organized. It was fully stocked, and we had everything we needed. I loved the electric recliner with a remote, which was very helpful after my c-section. My mom was able to stay with us and cook meals in the kitchen, but the best part is that we were just minutes away from the hospital, and we could be by my son’s bedside anytime, even in the middle of the night.”

This past April, Ezra celebrated his third birthday, and Haley Jane tells us that he is thriving. Looking back, she is amazed at how far they’ve come since those initial days filled with fear and anxiety. The apartment at Goodness Village provided them with a comforting sanctuary, allowing them to focus on their son’s well-being. This Thanksgiving, may we all take a moment to reflect on the blessings in our lives and the strength that can be found in the face of adversity.
