A Home of Healing: The Story of Jada and Nyair

When Jada Jackson was five months pregnant, her world was turned upside down with a diagnosis of aggressive leukemia. As her doctors quickly pivoted to life-saving cancer treatment, Jada faced an impossible situation—she needed to stay in Little Rock for care, but her newborn son, Nyair, would have to go home over an hour away. The separation was heart-wrenching.

At 32 weeks pregnant, Jada delivered her baby boy early—but thankfully, healthy. Her focus shifted immediately from pregnancy to survival as doctors began her cancer treatments right after delivery. But being away from her newborn was devastating.

This is where Goodness Village—and people like you—stepped in. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Jada and her baby Nyair didn’t have to be apart for long. Goodness Village provided a fully furnished two-bedroom apartment where Jada, Nyair, and a critical third family member, Jada’s sister Shelby, could all stay together.

Shelby, who was not just Jada’s sister but her stem cell donor, played a vital role in Jada’s healing process. While Jada received her cancer treatments and prepared for the transplant, Shelby stayed in the apartment with her. She not only provided the life-saving stem cells that Jada needed but also helped take care of Nyair, allowing Jada the time to rest and heal while knowing her baby was in loving hands.

For 88 nights, Goodness Village was their home—a safe, comforting place where they could be together as a family. Shelby’s presence, along with Nyair’s, meant the world to Jada. It allowed her to undergo her cancer treatments, including the stem cell transplant, with the peace of mind that only family can provide.

Goodness Village is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place that keeps families together during the hardest moments of their lives.
